(St. Paul, MN- 5/15/2008):Best of the US Management and Race Directors Tom Konrardy and Marvin Denzer invite the triathletes of the Land of 10,000 Lakes to race at the 19th annual LAKE WACONIA TRIATHLON / BEST OF THE US MINNESOTA QUALIFIER, a popular and challenging sprint distance event contested at Lake Waconia in Waconia, MN on June 29.
Minnesota has no shortage of triathlon talent. Among those that we hope to see at Lake Waconia are 2005 and 2006 representative and two-time defending LWT champ Brian Bich (3rd @ 2005 BOUS Championship; 9th in 2006), Lynette Bacon, Marlo Crosby-McGaver, Brooks Grossinger, former USAT Master of the Year Jan Guenther, Bekah Holt, Julie Hull, Heidi Keller-Miler, Catherine Lee, Marta Lewinski Brett Lovaas, Neil Miller, Kevin O’Connor, five-time World Champion Tony Schiller, Curt Wood and Cathy Yndestad (3rd at the 2007 BOUS Championship and 6th at the 2006 Championship). Team Minnesota placed 5th in the Fastest State Team Competition in 2007 and 2005, and 3rd in 2006.
The fastest male and female resident amateurs will receive invitations to represent Minnesota at the "Best of the US National Championship" on October 26 at Tempe Towne Lake in Tempe, AZ. Any male/female combination of the abovementioned athletes will give the home team a podium-worthy presence at the Championship.
