Athletics: Teter Punches Ticket to Beijing on Day Four of U.S. Olympic Trials

EUGENE, Ore. – Former Arkansas Lady Razorback Nicole Teter has made the U.S. Olympic Team in the 800 meters, it was decided on day four of the trials on Monday.

Teter finished fourth in the 800-meter finals with a time of 2:01.30. Kameisha Bennett, who placed third, does not have the Olympic A standard of 2:00.00. Teter has the standard and will be on the Olympic roster.

“I immediately looked at the time and saw that (Bennett) didn’t run under two minutes so I knew I had made the team,” Teter said. “I’m really tired. That race hurt pretty badly. I’m just really excited to be representing my country again. It’s been a tough road for me to get here and I cannot wait to go to China.”

In the 400-meter semifinals, former Lady’Back Jessica Cousins finished seventh in her heat and 14th overall with a time of 52.64. She did not advance to the finals.

Teter joins another former Lady’Back, Amy Yoder Begley (10,000 meters), on Team USA for the Beijing Olympic Games.
