Athletics: Moore, Wurth-Thomas Advance on Day Six of the U.S. Olympic Trials

EUGENE, Ore. – LaShaunte’a Moore and Christin Wurth-Thomas advanced to the finals in their respective events on day six of the U.S. Olympic Trials at Oregon’s Hayward Field on Friday.

Wurth-Thomas, running in heat two of the 1,500-meter semifinals, finished second in her heat and fourth overall with a time of 4:12.66. The top six in each heat automatically advanced to Sunday’s finals.

“I don’t like to sit and wait like I did,” Wurth-Thomas said. “I made my move a little too early. This was a race to shake out the nerves but I felt pretty comfortable out there.”

In the 200 meters, LaShaunte’a Moore finished fourth in her heat and 16th overall to advance to Saturday’s quarterfinals. She clocked a time of 23.17.

Dacia Barr, also running the 1,500-meter semifinals, finished 10th in her heat and 20th overall with a time of 4:21.18. She did not advance to Sunday’s finals.
